Aim is to help each one find something of his/her own to give & in the process expand the capacity to care, love & serve mankind.
Overview
Starspur was set up as a platform for individuals aspiring to generate revenue solely for their preferred social cause(s). These are people who yearn to give something of themselves to help others in challenging situations but lack the means to do so on their own. Back in the 80s, founder, Gopal Krishnan, wanted people to be able to craft their own unique way of contributing to the under-served at home or elsewhere, wherever Life takes them. We kept Starspur administratively skeletal, depending solely on the passion and drive of founding members to plan and execute programs and services using their personal funds or contributions from friends and families.
Starspur was intended to be a nimble organisation, financially sustainable, with a strong social mission and swiftly responsive to emerging need(s) of the hour. Gopal foresaw our world becoming so troubled and suffering inflicted mindlessly by mankind on one another. Children especially the girl-child, marginalised population and under-served communities would need a great deal of help. Added to man-made / caused challenges, nature would also take a toll on human kind. Years later, at the right time, circumstances caused Starspur to be relaunched as a registered social enterprise company Limited by Guarantee.
Underpinning all our past, present and future activities / programs, the thrust is on making Life a little better one spur at a time using the ideals of service to mankind.
